Here is a list of events that are planned in response to President Bush's speech at Furman University's upcoming graduation. This list includes all protest and pre-protest events of interest.

MAY 26, 2008

Memorial Day Workday!
Time: 10 AM
Location: The "new" Band Field on the campus of Furman University
This field is located next to Timmons Arena.
Use this MAP to find the location of the arena on campus.

Alternate Workday!
For those of you who can not make it on Memorial Day,
here is another option on Saturday.

Here are the details so far for the planned protest:

Suggestions approved:
No More Victims Banner
Flags to represent our fallen soldiers with posters
Drum Circle
Laminated flags to be placed where you wish
Impeach Bush signs – Can Cheney be added to the signs?
Draft notice as flyer – “Out of Iraq or start the Draft”

There are three sites:
The entrance on Hwy.25 (Pointsett Hwy)
Duncan Chapel Rd
Science building on the promenade.

Tentative staging area:
Publix parking lot on Hwy 25
Tentative time of 1 PM .
Please bring all posters, banners, etc. to be put in position.

Suggestions:
No backpacks, alcohol or anything Secret Service could say is a weapon.
No flyers, stickers or anything that would be left behind.
Furman is very environmentally correct and it would have a negative effect on us.
No inappropriate language either!
No flyers on cars or stickers in bathrooms.
Bring water, chairs, garbage bags, and snacks.
Also bring posters, banners, coffins, and any other appropriate signage.

Some suggestions for posters, banners:
“One Flag, One soldier” for the flag placement
“Bring them home now”
“Care now for Soldiers and Vets”
“End the War of Occupation”
“Mr. President, Why did they have to die?”
“Impeach Bush (or the Administration)”
“No more Victims”
“Three trillion $ War”
“Fund Education, not War”
“Fund Healthcare, not War”

The "Assessing the Bush Presidency" panel and lecture series.
Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges - Keynote Speaker
Furman University - Younts Center - Wednesday May 28, 2008 at 7:00pm.

Through the generosity of the A.S. Reid endowed lecture fund,
Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges will be the
keynote speaker for the "Assessing the Bush Presidency" lecture series. 
The working title of his lecture is:
"The Corporate State and the
Subversion of Democracy."  
The Younts Center has been reserved on
